Out With a Bang and some shows this week

It's time to make my announcement .

I am moving to Portland to try my hand working and making things happen in a larger market. The move is taking place September 5th.

The music coverage will continue and we're working to make this change as seamless as possible.

Taking over the duties of the Tidings Cafe are Mike Oxendine and Mandy Valencia. Mandy is taking charge of the booking for Tidings Cafe performances immediately. Who's doing what exactly is still being hashed out. Both can be contacted on connectashland.com.

You can count on me continuing to attend shows and blog about them until I leave, as well as, assisting with the filming of the Cafes and writing the features.

Friday night at 9 p.m.Delta Son is performing at the Caldera Tap House (formerly the Siskiyou Brew Pub).

Saturday in Medford at Musichead is Diamonds Under Fire. Check out this week's Tempo publication for the full deal on this three band performance.

OR

On friday or Saturday night you can catch the Frankie Hernandez Band at Four Daughters Irish Pub in Medford.

You can count on my take with some pictures of this week's outings.

This blog has been created to put you in the loop of the Southern Oregon music scene, with an emphasis on Ashland. Here's my two sense (cents), just don't spend it all in one place.

My adventures are now your adventures. No genre will be left unobserved and, by the time finished here, no venue will be left unexplored.

You'll get it all from knee-slappin' country to mosh pit punk, funky reggae to the ever smooth jazz and everything in between.

I, Dawn Hatchard, have lived in Southern Oregon for about four years doing everything from selling cars to serving burritos. My passion has always been in writing and I'm ecstatic to announce: I'm doing what I love BABY!

Live music has always enthralled me. I want to share some of the live music in the area with all of you.

My children, Seth and James, share my topsy turvy world (it's really quite amusing). My brother Sean, his wife Tammy and their daughter Lilly live near by. We have reached a familial consensus, we dig it down here. The nature, the friendly people, variety and most of all much less rain than the Willamette Valley where we journeyed from.

My, it's good to be home.
